Well, the low point of our week was not being able to get tickets to Justin Timberlake's post-Brits intimate gig thing. But instead of slitting our wrists, we managed to pull ourselves together in time to bring some shit-hot new music your way. We've already given a massive seal of approval to MillionYoung, Brother, Haim, and Autre Ne Veut this week, but here's some more aural goodness for you...
Lennon & Maisy Stella - Telescope (Nashville OST)
We here at PressPLAY are definitely a little bit country (and a little bit rock 'n' roll). But it's rare for us to plug anything from an American TV show starring Hayden
Jamie Lidell - Big Love
Jamie Lidell is back with a new album called, er, Jamie Lidell. That voice - not too dissimilar from our aforementioned friend Autre Ne Veut - dominates every track, though admittedly the LP is disappointing fare. Still, Big Love is by far the highlight, bound to get you grooving with its Motown vibe.
London Grammar - Metal & Dust
Mysterious London outfit London Grammar took the interwebs by storm late last year with the sparse yet gobsmacking Hey Now. This second release sees them continue in a vein not too dissimilar from MS MR, building up a lot more hype for their first upcoming London date. Expect a full PressPLAY review afterwards.
Veronica Falls - If You Still Want Me
While indie boy-girl repartee makes us coo like teenagers, Veronica Falls did disappoint us a little with their new album. However, the Big Deal-esque If You Still Want Me is the band at their best - melodious, balanced, harmonised. A great deal is now forgiven.
Benjamin Francis Leftwich - Swim Until You Can't See Land (Frightened Rabbit Cover)
Old BFL (as he's known to his pals) has pretty much got the adorable acoustic slow-jam thing down a treat, and he's given the same treatment to Scot rockers Frightened Rabbit for his Covers EP. Worthy of applause for doing what every good cover should - taking the original into an unexpected new direction and adding an indelible personal stamp.
