Dråpe (Draape) - Canicular Days

Google-bothering Norwegians Dråpe (or Draape, if your accents trouble you as much as they do Anne Hathaway) have readied their first album, Canicular Days, two years after their debut EP. We could be exceptionally lazy here and end this post in two-and-a-half words (Scandi-Beach House), but Dråpe deserve somewhat more than that.

Of course, both opener Blue Skies and closer I Did What You've Done reek of Legrand, but the bits in between are shoegaze most summery, indebted at times a little more to Grizzly Bear on songs such as I Kept Falling Asleep (which is brilliant, by the way). Still, it's a testament to a debut to be likened to those two alt-god bands - Dråpe's relative youth as a group means that not only do they ooze freshness, there's also the prospect of much more excitement to come.
