Shola Ama - Boyfriend
Christ on a bike, this is one comeback we a) weren't expecting, and b) weren't expecting to be SO GOOD. Shola Ama (yes, she of You Might Need Somebody fame) has catapulted into the British R&B big leagues with a mature slow-jam that borrows all the right things from the Weeknd, i.e. the production and adult themes (because, let's be honest, beyond that he's mainly a whimpering teen).
This is genuinely, genuinely great - from the very uncomfortable single sleeve (above) to the heartfelt vocal, and even the somewhat abrupt ending, this is an absolute lesson in how to make a faultless comeback. To paraphrase the lady herself, We Might Need Somebody (to help us get over this).
