Ben Howard - Esmerelda
The Devon troubadour has unveiled a new track and video, which is taken from his forthcoming the Burgh Island EP. This track see’s Ben take on a darker, more broodier mood and the EP promises to be more of the same. It certainly is a welcome change in direction from the folk singer and hopefully points to exciting times ahead.
Foals - Inhaler
After seemingly disappearing after 2009's (in our opinion) excellent Total Life Forever, it seems the Foals lads were just quietly beavering away on new material. Now they're back with the absolutely stomping Inhaler. Bursting at the seams with frenetic energy, simply turn this one up and enjoy.
Earl Sweatshirt - Chum
Apart
for a few guest spots here and there, the first release from the Odd Future
member Earl Sweatshirt, since his critically acclaimed Earl in 2010, showcases the pure lyrical talent that the young rapper
has. Despite being only three minutes long, the
complex track takes on his
relationships with his parents, abandonment issues, being 'freed' earlier in
the year and whether or not he wants his new found fame. That's more than you get in an episode of Jeremy Kyle.
The Weeknd - Enemy
Mysterious Toronto crooner, Abel Tesfaye, dropped his re-mastered Trilogy last week and this little ditty was a promo track released last month that doesn't even feature on the album. If this is the calibre of tracks in his arsenal, then there’s no excuse why you shouldn’t be running to the shops to buy Trilogy right now (or have downloaded the original mixtapes like the rest of us). Look out for The Smiths sample in the chorus. Who knew he was a Morrissey admirer. Either that or he's a big fan of John Lewis Christmas ads....
Rudimental feat. John Newman & Alex Clare - Not Giving In
After crashing onto the scene earlier in the year with their how-can-you-not-love-it track Feel The Love, the Hackney four piece have followed it up with the equally infectious Not Giving In. Enlisting fellow epic-song powerhouse Alex Clare for vocals, the track surely signals another hit for the collective.
